— Why does the videos
click-through rate matter?
Hi, I’m Gabriel, a Product
Specialist here at YouTube.
It’s not the click-through
rate number itself that matters
but what does it represent
for your viewers?
As a viewer, you’re presented with a lot
of options of videos to choose from.
Viewers are making
decisions of which videos
to actively choose and watch
while they’re on YouTube.
Your click-through rate
essentially is a measure
of how often when we show your thumbnail
and your title are these viewers choosing
to watch your video?
It’s essentially a measure
of how well you are selling
your video to your audience.
There’s no target click-through rate,
just see where you’re at
now, understand your viewers
and where they’re coming from
and try to improve it from there.
To improve your click-through rate,
try new topics and formats
and test titles and thumbnails
to appeal to viewers.
Think of these aspects as your sales pitch
or your movie trailer
to attract new viewers.
Make sure you’re delivering
on these promises
to keep those viewers engaged.
